Math.log, log2, log10 and Float#** take a C# fast path for plain Floats - #72
The prelude overrode Math.log, Math.log2, Math.log10 (ruby4.rb) and Float#** (rational.rb) to get CRuby's answers for negative, Rational, Complex and coerced arguments. As a result, every call — even Math.log(2.5) or x ** 2 — went through a splat, array allocations and type tests in Ruby.
What
The four methods now use the pattern Math.sqrt already uses: compute in C# and hand only the special cases to Ruby.
RubyMath.Log / Log2 / Log10 compute directly when the argument converts to a non-negative double or NaN.
Every other argument goes to the Ruby code.
That code is renamed to __ir_log__ / __ir_log2__ / __ir_log10__ and made private.
ClrFloat.Power(double, double) calls Math.Pow.
If the base is negative and the exponent is fractional or NaN, it calls __ir_pow_complex__ instead.
Initializers.Generated.cs is regenerated. Its diff touches only these four entries.

ruby/spec core/complex, rational, integer and numeric fail the same 21 examples before and after.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Improved logarithm handling for numeric inputs, including support for logarithms with a specified base and more consistent behavior for negative values and NaN.
Corrected exponentiation behavior for negative bases with fractional or NaN floating-point exponents, returning complex results where appropriate.
Improved exponentiation handling for values that require coercion.
All four were overridden in the prelude (ruby4.rb, rational.rb) to get
CRuby's answers for negative, Rational, Complex and coerced arguments, so
every call - also Math.log(2.5) or x ** 2 - went through a splat, array
allocations and type tests in Ruby: 800-900 ns for Math.log, 300 ns for
Float#**, against about 35 ns for Math.sqrt, which already does it the other
way round.
They now follow Math.sqrt's pattern. RubyMath.Log/Log2/Log10 compute directly
when the argument converts to a non-negative double or NaN and hand
everything else to the Ruby code, renamed __ir_log__, __ir_log2__ and
__ir_log10__ and made private. Float#** with a Float exponent calls
Math.Pow unless the base is negative and the exponent fractional or NaN,
which goes to __ir_pow_complex__; a non-numeric exponent goes to
__ir_pow_coerce__. Initializers.Generated.cs is regenerated.

Walkthrough
The change updates Math.log, Math.log2, and Math.log10 dispatch and changes Float exponentiation handling. C# methods provide logarithm fast paths and delegate other inputs to Ruby helpers. Float power dispatch uses Ruby helpers for complex-power and coercion cases.
Call-site-backed methods handle Log, Log10, and Log2. Log also accepts a base. Accepted nonnegative numeric inputs use C# calculations; other inputs delegate to Ruby implementations.
The Ruby implementations become private __ir_ helpers. The Math methods route nonnegative Float/Fixnum inputs to the C# implementations and other inputs to the helpers.

Private Ruby helpers handle complex-power and coercion cases. ClrFloat.Power calls those helpers for the applicable exponents. The Float#** override is removed.

Title check
The title clearly identifies the main changes: C# fast paths for the three Math methods and Float#**. It is slightly narrower than the changeset because the log fast paths also support integer inputs.

Call the original power implementation for the magnitude.
If an application wraps Float#** and calls the original method, this expression invokes the wrapper a second time. For a wrapper that adds 1 to the original result, (-4.0) ** 0.5 changes from 1+2i to 1+3i. The previous implementation called a private alias instead. (github.com)
Restore that alias or compute the magnitude directly in C#.
