Group & profile endpoints

These endpoints may use the following URL variations:

• Group: /gid/:groupid/*
  • Also accepts: /groups/:vanity_url/*, /ogg/:appid/* (if ogg), /games/:vanity_url/* (if ogg)
• Profiles: /profiles/:steamid/*
  • Also accepts: /id/:vanity_url/* (if custom URL set), /my/* (if logged in)

Rate limits

• store.steampowered.com: There's a global limit to 300 store requests per 5 mins.
• Additional rate limits are listed in the individual endpoint pages.

HTTP methods

Some endpoints support multiple HTTP methods. The displayed method is determined using the following priority order:

1. GET
2. POST

Authentication

An endpoint is authenticated when it behaves differently when the user is logged in. This is typically reflected in the returned data. Additionally, an endpoint may not even work without an authenticated user.

Session cookies

Authentication is handled with the sessionid and steamLoginSecure cookies.

• sessionid — a CSRF token. Some endpoints require its value to be sent as a sessionid query/form parameter matching the cookie.
• steamLoginSecure — a signed JWT holding the user's 64-bit SteamID (sub) and a domain scope (aud), e.g. web:store, web:community, web:help.
• Cookies are scoped per domain: a web:store cookie does not authenticate steamcommunity.com (which requires web:community). Logging in on one domain only carries the session to the others when third-party cookies are allowed.
