fix(metrics): infer measure table for aggregates with ORDER BY - #6192
Partially addresses #6169 (the "Related" section).
A metric whose aggregate has an ORDER BY, such as:
METRIC (name sorted_amounts, expression ARRAY_AGG(sushi.orders.amount ORDER BYsushi.orders.amount));
failed to load with ConfigError: Could not infer a measures table.
sqlglot parses the aggregate's argument as Order(this=<arg>, expressions=[Ordered(...)]), and is_measure in _get_measure_and_dim_tables didn't climb through the Order node. It now does, but only through the Order's this. A column that appears only in the ORDER BY clause is treated as a dimension, never as the measure.
The same fix covers STRING_AGG(x, ',' ORDER BY y), GROUP_CONCAT(x ORDER BY y), LISTAGG(x, ',') WITHIN GROUP (ORDER BY y) and ARRAY_AGG(DISTINCT x ORDER BY x), which all parse to the same Order-under-aggregate shape.
PERCENTILE_CONT(0.5) WITHIN GROUP (ORDER BY x) and BigQuery's ARRAY_AGG(x ORDER BY y LIMIT n) still can't infer a measures table. These are separate AST shapes (WithinGroup and Limit), and the problem predates this change.
Test Plan
Added cases to test_get_measure_and_dim_tables:
ORDER BY on the same table
ORDER BY on another table
IF inside an aggregate with ORDER BY
a negative case: a column only in ORDER BY still raises
Added test_rewrite_order_by_metric, which rewrites a query that uses the new metric against the sushi project and checks that the output SQL parses.
Both new tests fail without the fix and pass with it.
pytest tests/core/metric passes (6 tests).
ruff format --check, ruff check and mypy are clean on the changed files.
Checklist
I have run make style and fixed any issues (ruff and mypy on the changed files)
I have added tests for my changes (if applicable)
All existing tests pass (make fast-test) (I ran only the metric test suite locally; relying on CI for the full run)
My commits are signed off (git commit -s) per the DCO
Improved metric handling for ARRAY_AGG expressions with ORDER BY. Measure and dimension tables are inferred from the appropriate aggregate, ordering, and conditional-expression columns.
Queries using metrics with ordered aggregates now retain the aggregate ordering when rewritten.
Invalid aggregates that contain only an ordered column and no measure column raise a configuration error.
A metric such as ARRAY_AGG(t.x ORDER BY t.x) failed to load with
"Could not infer a measures table". sqlglot parses the aggregate's
argument as Order(this=<arg>, expressions=[...]), and is_measure did
not climb through the Order node. Climb it via its `this` arg only, so
columns that appear just in the ORDER BY clause are never the measure.
Partially addresses SQLMesh#6169.

Comments document how is_measure treats an aggregate with ORDER BY. Tests cover measure and dimension inference for ARRAY_AGG, the expected ConfigError for an aggregate without a measure column, and rewritten SQL that retains aggregate ordering.

Metric inference and rewriting sqlmesh/core/metric/definition.py, tests/core/metric/test_metric.py, tests/core/metric/test_rewriter.py
Comments describe the parsed Order node and its eligible measure expression. Tests cover measure and dimension inference, the ConfigError case, and SQL rewriting with ORDER BY.
The change appears mergeable. A cross-table rewrite test would strengthen regression coverage.

Explanation
The title "fix(metrics): infer measure table for aggregates with ORDER BY" matches the main change. The PR makes is_measure in _get_measure_and_dim_tables climb through the Order node, so aggregates with an ORDER BY infer the measure table from the aggregated column. The raw summary and PR objectives both describe this change, and the title names the affected scope (metrics) and the conditioned case (ORDER BY). The title is specific and accurate, so it passes.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the repository template. It has a Description section that explains the bug, the cause (sqlglot parses the aggregate argument as an Order node that is_measure did not traverse), and the fix. It also lists related cases that the PR does not cover. The Test Plan section lists the new test cases, the negative case, and the lint and test results. The Checklist is present. Three items are checked. The unchecked item for the full test suite is explained in the text, so the author has given the reason. The description is mostly complete and meets the template, so it passes.

Docstring coverage is 50.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 2 functions across 3 files.

The current rewrite test uses sushi.orders for both aggregate expressions. The separate cross-table test stops at table inference. It does not verify that rewrite joins the related ORDER BY table and preserves its generated qualifier. Add a rewrite assertion with the measure and ordering columns in different tables.

qualifier. Keep the existing same-table case unchanged and parse the rewritten
SQL with the configured dialect.
