resolve: bound name-match pools on generated/artifact-dominated refs - #565
Root cause of pretix's straggler page (a 40k-ref batch at 2.1–2.7s inside a 4.7s resolution): minified-bundle refs paying ~10× per-ref cost. fabric.min.js chunks ran ~950ms vs a ~90ms floor — names like t fetch candidate pools of thousands, and the retain/scope chain runs per candidate.
ResolveRefIn gains generated (DB flag via readPendingBatch's files.generated JOIN + the same path convention generatedPredicateFor uses; TS path via generatedPredicateFor directly — identical union semantics on both feeds).
match_by_exact_name_uncapped and match_fuzzy bail (return no name candidate → unresolved, never a truncated winner) when the pool exceeds GENERATED_NAME_POOL_CAP = 256 AND either the ref's file is generated-flagged OR the pool is ≥75% generated nodes. The artifact-dominated rule catches vendored-but-unflagged sources (d3.v6.js, fabric.js, pdf.worker.js); real big pools (Migration 428, __init__ 422, django.db 555) proceed untouched.
11 synthetic ResolveRefIn construction sites get generated: None (internal probes — no behavior change).
Measured (pretix, Bun)
Exact graph parity: 32,799 nodes / 73,404 edges / 165,700 refs — identical edge-kind distribution vs the pre-change index.
Pathological chunks eliminated: max per-chunk resolve 950ms → ~250ms.
Honest limit: batch-4 wall is unchanged within noise (2.1→~2.7s) — the residual is ~19k vendored-JS refs at ~0.5–1ms each, spread across the d3/fabric/bootstrap cluster, not one pool. This PR bounds the worst case; it does not claim the batch win.
Generated files still resolve 5,266 edges on pretix — a capped ref can only lose an edge when its name-match pool exceeded the bound; zero instances on pretix.
Test plan
pretix full-index parity: identical node/edge/ref totals and edge-kind distribution
Reviewer: confirm the cap's decline-not-truncate semantics in names.rs

Bug Fixes
Improved reference resolution when many same-name matches come from generated or minified files. In these cases, the system now leaves the reference unresolved rather than choosing from an overly large candidate pool, reducing the risk of incorrect matches.
Corrected source-location information used during certain lookups, helping references resolve against the appropriate position.
Profiling the pretix straggler page (2.1s of a 4.7s resolution) showed
minified-bundle refs paying ~10x the normal per-ref cost: `t`-style names
in fabric.min.js fetch candidate pools of thousands, and the retain/scope
chain runs per candidate. Two bounds, both declining the name match
entirely (unresolved, never a truncated winner; the framework merge still
applies downstream):
- refs whose file is generated-flagged bail on pools > 256;
- any ref bails on a >256 pool that is >=75% generated nodes — an
artifact-dominated pool cannot hold a real target, and this catches
vendored-but-unflagged sources (d3.v6.js, fabric.js, pdf.worker.js).
Handwritten pools that large (Migration, __init__) are untouched.
`generated` rides ResolveRefIn via readPendingBatch (files.generated JOIN
+ the same path convention generatedPredicateFor uses) and via
resolveChunkWithKernel (generatedPredicateFor).
Measured: exact graph parity on pretix (32,799/73,404/165,700, identical
edge kinds); the ~950ms pathological chunks are gone (worst chunk ~250ms).
Batch-4 wall is unchanged within noise — its residual cost is ~19k
vendored-JS refs at ~0.5-1ms each, spread, not one pool. Generated files
still resolve 5,266 edges on pretix; a capped ref can only lose an edge
when its name-match pool exceeded the bound (zero instances on pretix).

Walkthrough
The resolver input now carries generated-file status from the TypeScript and Rust paths. Exact-name and fuzzy-name matching limit oversized candidate pools under generated-source conditions. A separate Lua-local reference construction now includes the candidate’s starting column.

Summary
Carry generated status into resolver references codegraph-kernel/src/resolve/mod.rs, codegraph-kernel/src/resolve/{declarations_upstream,fields,go_asserted,js_objects_upstream,kotlin_calls,kotlin_type_scope,names,resolver_upstream,rust_paths}.rs, src/extraction/kernel/loader.ts, src/resolution/index.ts
ResolveRefIn gains an optional generated field. The pending-reference query and TypeScript kernel path supply generated status, and resolver-created references initialize the field. The Go asserted initializer is unchanged.

Exact-name and fuzzy-name matching return unresolved when the candidate pool exceeds 256 and the reference is generated or at least 75% of candidates are generated.

Some generated-file references may still encounter oversized name-match pools. This is a bounded performance risk; the change is mergeable with owner awareness or a follow-up fix.

CodeRabbit review on #565: the LEFT JOIN files on r.file_path misses the
generated flag when a ref's stored file_path is empty — the origin-node
fallback fills the path only after the join ran. The bound then treats
refs from generated files as ordinary and misses the pool cap.
After the fallback, when the stored path was empty and the flag is not
already set, query files.generated under the path the origin node
supplied — the same effective path generatedPredicateFor unions with
is_generated_file on the TS side.

README measured-revision ref moves to d9bd974; the benchmark doc's
follow-up table gains #562-#565 with their measured results, and the
left-on-the-board line records the diffuse per-candidate gate cost that
keeps pretix's largest resolve batch at ~2.7 s.
