Protocol version 14 (dashpay/platform#5350) changed how unsigned integer index values are encoded, so a grouped count by rating now returns keys 01..05 instead of 81..85. dashrate was still looking up the old keys, so every per-star count read 0 and every resource showed "No reviews yet" even though it had reviews. This PR decodes the keys the network returns instead of matching against keys the app built itself, so it works on both pre-PV14 and PV14 networks.

  • Decode grouped-count keys with ratingFromKeyHex (masks off the top bit) in queries.ts and dashrate-lite.html
  • Unit tests now use literal network-format keys instead of stubs built with the app's own encoder, which is why this went unnoticed
  • New read-only e2e spec checks on live testnet that the per-star distribution sums to the total review count, for both the app and the lite page (it fails against the old code)
  • Updated dashrate CLAUDE.md to match

Closes #119

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Star-rating distributions now correctly include review counts from both current and legacy formats, helping histogram totals match the displayed review count in the app and lite page.
    • Invalid rating entries are ignored so they do not affect the displayed distribution.

Protocol version 14 (dashpay/platform#5350) stores unsigned integer index values in value order, so a grouped `count` by rating now returns keys "01".."05" instead of the sign-flipped "81".."85". dashrate looked up the old keys, so every per-star count read 0, the derived average was null, and every resource showed "No reviews yet" even though reviews exist.

Decode the returned keys with `ratingFromKeyHex` instead of re-encoding expected ones. Masking off the top bit handles both the PV14 and pre-PV14 forms. Apply the same fix to dashrate-lite.html.

Unit tests now feed literal network-format keys rather than stubs built with the app's own encoder, which is why the break went unnoticed. A new read-only e2e spec checks on live testnet, for both the app and the lite page, that the per-star distribution sums to the total review count. It fails against the previous code.

Walkthrough

Dashrate now decodes grouped rating-count keys from PV14 and pre-PV14 formats. The app and lite page build distributions from decoded keys. New tests cover both key formats and verify that displayed rating counts match review totals.

Changes: Rating distribution

Layer / File(s) Summary
Decode and aggregate grouped counts
example-apps/dashrate/src/dash/queries.ts, example-apps/dashrate/public/dashrate-lite.html, example-apps/dashrate/test/queries.test.ts, example-apps/dashrate/CLAUDE.md
The app and lite page decode two-digit hexadecimal keys, mask the high bit, and accumulate counts for ratings 1–5. The app logs and skips invalid keys; the lite page skips them. Unit tests cover PV14 and legacy keys, invalid keys, and default counts. Documentation describes both key formats.
Check displayed rating totals
example-apps/dashrate/test/e2e/ratings.spec.ts, example-apps/dashrate/CLAUDE.md
End-to-end tests check that displayed rating counts sum to review totals in the app and lite page. The documentation identifies this check and its grouped-key coverage.

Explanation

Issue #119 requires dashrate to handle grouped rating keys from PV14 and earlier networks, update the app and lite page, and document the encoding. queries.ts and dashrate-lite.html decode returned two-digit keys by masking the high bit and accept ratings 1–5. Unit tests cover both 01–05 and 81–85 formats. The new read-only e2e spec checks that grouped counts sum to the total for the app and lite page. CLAUDE.md documents both formats and the decoder. No requirement in #119 requires changes to other example apps.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changes stay within dashrate. The source and lite-page changes implement the key-decoding fix. The unit tests and live read-only e2e checks verify the fix. The CLAUDE.md update documents the changed behavior. No unrelated application or repository changes appear in the reviewed diff.

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 66.67% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 3 functions across 3 files. (2 skipped: 2 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Increase the app test timeout.

If testnet ratings take more than 30 seconds to load, Playwright ends this test before the 90-second assertion timeout expires. Set a test timeout that covers the intended wait, as the lite test does. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
