Feature request: option to pin input box to the top of the screen #5227

Description

@MoermansJ

Problem

The Copilot CLI input box is always rendered at the bottom of the screen. During long sessions, everything the user cares about — the line being typed, the latest output — is at the very bottom edge of the display. This forces a constant downward gaze / neck angle, which is genuinely fatiguing on large monitors.

Proposed solution

Add a setting (e.g. /settings input_position top or a config key) to pin the input box to the top of the screen, with the conversation/output flowing below it — similar to Warp's "pin input to top" option or chat-style interfaces.

Alternatives considered

  • Shrinking the terminal window so the bottom edge sits at eye level (workable but ugly)
  • Using the desktop app / VS Code chat instead (but the CLI TUI is the preferred workflow)

Context

  • Copilot CLI 1.0.102
  • macOS, running in Canario/Warp

Thanks for considering!
