GitHub Copilot CLI interactive mode breaks terminal TTY on macOS (Copilot) #5240

Describe the bug

I’m experiencing a persistent bug with Copilot CLI on macOS version 1.0.98.

The issue reproduces consistently in both iTerm2 and Terminal.app. In normal terminal usage, the Copilot CLI does not behave correctly and fails during the interactive workflow. However, the command copilot -p "hello" works as expected, which suggests the issue is limited to a specific terminal/session path rather than the CLI as a whole.

Expected behavior:
Copilot CLI should work normally in both terminal applications without failing in the interactive session flow.

Actual behavior:
The issue reproduces reliably in both iTerm2 and Terminal.app on version 1.0.98, preventing normal usage in the standard terminal workflow.

Environment:

macOS
iTerm2
Terminal.app
Copilot CLI version: 1.0.98
Notes:

copilot -p "hello" succeeds
The issue is reproducible in both terminal applications

Affected version

GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.98.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

copilot --version works and reports GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.98
copilot --help works
copilot login --help works
copilot -p "hello" works normally
copilot -i "hello" still reproduces the same terminal/TTY issue as before
