Senior Biostatistician · R Programmer · Reproducible Research · Statistical Computing
I'm a Senior Biostatistician at Toronto General Hospital, working at the intersection of biostatistics, statistical programming, and reproducible research.
My main programming language is R. I enjoy developing tools and infrastructure that make statistical analyses more structured, reproducible, and easier to maintain.
I also develop software independently, including Flutter/Dart Android apps, because I enjoy learning new technologies and building things from idea to working product.
Since my clinical work involves protected health information (PHI), the underlying clinical datasets and analyses aren't published on GitHub. Instead, this profile showcases selected projects, reusable tools, and examples of my programming work.
A part of my work I particularly enjoy is developing tools and infrastructure for clinical and research projects.
R package for initializing standardized research projects
I developed an interactive R package that creates a complete project structure for TRCP projects, including:
- predefined data, programming, and reporting folders
- analysis-specific R scripts
- Quarto reports and templates
- project README generation
- analyst and project metadata
- automatic session information
- optional Git repository initialization
The goal is to make a new statistical project structured and consistent across the team.
This was the first package I developed with the help of Github Copilot.

I also maintain a Docker-based R environment used for reproducible statistical programming:
ghcr.io/trchr-cp/r-trchr-public:latest
I maintain the image, update it as needed, and publish new versions through GitHub/Container Registry.
Outside of my statistical work, I build Android applications using Flutter and Dart.
An Android violin tuner designed for children learning to play the violin.
Flutter · Dart · Android · Google Play
I designed, developed, tested, built, and published the application myself.
A second Flutter application designed to motivate children to practice violin through a game-like reward system.
It includes a practice timer, rewards/tokens, and games to motivate young violinists.
Flutter · Dart · Android · UI/UX · app development
Note that the link only leads to a public README since the original code is private, but the game is available on the Google Play Store.
For a proposal I recently wrote, I created a pilot to estimate API-usage. The project includes a list of tasks (i.e. prompts for AI systems) and python scripts to send these prompts to the API of two different OpenAI models (gpt astra and gpt luna), and appends the token usage to the results. A second python file translates the token usage into Dollars to easily include in the research proposal.
What I learned in this project is to work with AI models through API, and that different models have enormous differences in pricing and execution time. The project is hosted under Decide-pilot on GitHub.
My GitHub also contains earlier statistical programming and data-science projects, including:
R Markdown report templates and themes developed to support consistent statistical reporting.
Contribution to R package for descriptive analyses.
An earlier machine-learning/statistical modelling project using the UCI heart disease dataset (only used as show-case for a job application in 2016).
An early R Shiny application for semantic/text analysis.
This is an older project and now to updated API requirements not completely functioning, but it reflects my longstanding interest in combining statistical methods with interactive software.
Some scripts for my PNAS paper published during my PhD years.
My older repositories also include work in:
- quantile regression
- climate/environmental data analysis
- web scraping and APIs
- Python
- interactive data analysis
- statistical teaching materials

🥚 I found a strange egg. Should I touch it?
The egg begins to shake...
✨ Crack!
🐉 A tiny dragon emerges!
Congratulations, curious coder. You found the hidden part of my profile.
See what hatches from your own ideas. Happy coding!.
