Release Notes

grafana/gcx (aqua:grafana/gcx)

v1.7.1

Compare Source

  • Build release binaries with Go 1.26.10 and update golang.org/x/net to
v0.60.0, picking up standard library security fixes and five HTTP/2
    fixes (GO-2026-6603, -6610, -6611, -6612, -6617) (#1625)
  • Fix the container image build, which stopped the v1.7.0 release before
it published binaries or images (#1623)

v1.7.0

Compare Source

Breaking changes
  • Some failures now exit with different codes. HTTP 401/403 from product
commands, Assistant helpers and gcx api, and missing Cloud or Synthetic
Monitoring credentials exit 3 instead of 1. Unknown flags and missing or
extra positional arguments exit 2 instead of 1. Error summaries use a fixed
    vocabulary (Authentication failed, Authorization failed,
Resource not found, Resource conflict, Invalid command usage).
Update scripts that branch on exit 1 or match the old error text. (#1483)
  • Contact points, notification policies, templates and mute timings that gcx
writes now stay editable in the Grafana UI by default. Pass
--allow-ui-updates=false to keep them provisioned. Updating a contact
    point that is already provisioned requires --allow-ui-updates=false;
without it Grafana rejects the update. Alert rules are unchanged. (#1553)
  • gcx synthetic-monitoring checks status and checks get --show-status now
read from the Synthetic Monitoring datasource and require Synthetic
Monitoring app v1.64.0 or later. SUCCESS (JSON success) is now
reachability over 3 hours instead of a 5-minute probe_success average, so
some checks may change between OK and FAILING. --datasource-uid is
hidden and ignored; it is still accepted, with a warning. (#1489)
  • gcx logs query and gcx datasources loki query (including generic
datasources query against Loki) now reject metric queries such as
rate(...) in every output format, instead of printing metric values as
log lines. Run metric queries with gcx logs metrics. (#1580)
  • gcx kg notifications upsert now rejects unknown or misspelled fields, and
input containing more than one YAML document. Both previously succeeded,
dropping the unknown key or the extra documents. It now also accepts the
output of notifications get and list directly. Correct field names in
saved notification files before you upgrade. (#1571)
New commands and improvements
  • Add Assistant Watchers: inspect, export, create, update and lifecycle commands
  • Watchers: run history, version restore, calibration and notification routing
  • Add alerting time interval and template group workflows
  • Add kg graph queries and threshold commands; deprecate legacy entity queries
  • Improve kg graph query and meta schema help, with --jq examples
  • Add synthetic-monitoring suggestions list
  • Add CSV output (-o csv) for Prometheus, Loki, SQL, tabular, Cloud,
    search-metrics, Tempo and Pyroscope queries
  • Add datasources loki query-patterns and logs query-patterns
  • Render -o graph for Loki log queries as a log-volume histogram
  • Describe the profiling workflow in profiles help
  • Select the active context with the GCX_CONTEXT environment variable
  • Detect Hermes Agent and OpenClaw to turn on agent mode
  • Publish a container image to ghcr.io and Docker Hub, signed with keyless cosign
  • Make SLO, Synthetic, Alerting, k6, Fleet, stack and telemetry tables consistent
  • Fix decoding of SLOs that use grafanaQueries
  • Fix irm oncall schedules list-final-shifts ignoring --start
  • Fix OAuth login callback by using an OS-assigned port
  • Fix config validation errors and legacy mTLS with env-only auth or tokens
  • Fix Linux keychain prompting for unlock in headless sessions
  • Fix instrumentation sending a Pyroscope URL ending in /ingest
  • Sandbox recovers from a broken compilation cache and reports why
  • Docs: CLI reference now ships with releases; added Grafana MCP comparison

v1.6.0

Compare Source

Breaking changes
  • Faro app writes now reject spec.settings.geolocationLevel: region.
Change it to subdivision in saved manifests before you upgrade.
This affects gcx frontend apps writes and resource pushes. Before this
release, gcx ignored Faro app settings on writes, so region never took
effect. Faro settings now reach the API. (#1444)
  • gcx datasources loki labels and gcx logs labels now reject stray
positional arguments. They also reject an explicit empty --query or
--label. Omit these flags for an unscoped label list. Give each flag
a nonempty value when you use it. (#1325)
New commands and improvements
  • Add gcx signup to create a Grafana Cloud account and save its first
connection. Complete account setup in the browser. If the connection
fails after signup, finish it with gcx login. (#1383)
  • Let gcx login --cloud --oauth open the stack chooser when no server
is set. Browser cancellation now exits with code 5. On macOS, the
terminal watcher uses its own device, so SSH paste works. (#1383)
  • Add gcx docs commands to search and read Grafana product docs.
    (#1234)
  • Add gcx alert routing-trees commands to manage native alert routing
    trees. (#1472)
  • Add experimental gcx profiles query-anomalies and
gcx datasources pyroscope query-anomalies commands. Their flags and
    output may change. (#1435)
  • Add --query to scope Loki label and value lists. (#1325)
  • Add --dry-run to Synthetic Monitoring check create and update.
    (#1429)
  • Add an experimental Go sandbox module that runs gcx as WebAssembly.
Reduce its build size and startup time. (#1440)
  • Keep resource manager identity stable across gcx upgrades. Resolve
resource selectors with dotted API groups. (#1537, #1441)
  • Correct Faro app settings writes. Preserve labels and mobile
classification on create. Report truncated lists and accept app names
    in get. (#1444, #1390, #1445)
  • Read service map metadata correctly. Fix the SLO server interval
example. Scope k6 load tests to the selected project. (#1457, #1452,
    #1450)
  • Name missing permissions in Faro proxy errors. Show native alert rule
selectors in help. Recover after concurrent config writes. (#1518,
    #1458, #1485)
  • Detect Codex, Gemini, and other agent hosts. Let
    GCX_AGENT_SPILL_BYTES=0 disable output spilling. (#1461, #1439)
  • Update docs, security reporting guidance, and on-call command
    discovery. (#1520, #1206, #1305)

rvben/rumdl (rumdl)

v0.3.0

Compare Source

Changed
  • 2.4–4.7× faster rumdl fmt than 0.2.79 on frozen documentation
snapshots: Cargo (99 files) 4.7×, MkDocs Material (85 files) 2.6×, and
Ruff (16 files) 2.4×. Reusing parsed Markdown and shared source analysis
reduces repeated work. Speedups compare median elapsed times from 31 paired
runs after five warmups on Apple M6: ordinary Rust 1.96.0 release builds,
default threads, warm filesystem cache, and --no-config --no-cache --silent
    (--flavor=standard for Cargo/Ruff, --flavor=mkdocs for MkDocs Material).
Output includes the correctness fixes listed below and can differ from 0.2.79.
  • Code block tools are supported and remain opt-in. Missing tags, missing
active-mode tools and invocations with no tools checked are ignored by default.
An omitted unknown-tag policy inherits on-missing-language-definition,
preserving existing strict configurations. Valid internal cached checks count
as checked; applicable external tools rerun to reflect changes in their own
    configuration and environment.
  • on-missing-language-definition = "warn" now reports uncovered languages;
previous releases treated it as ignore.
  • Executable lookup remains system-only by default. Per-binary preferences can
opt into nearest-first project lookup bounded by repository/configuration
    boundaries, including hoisted workspace installations.
  • MD037 still reports spaces inside emphasis delimiters but no longer provides
    automatic fixes, including editor fixes. Repair the reported emphasis manually;
inserting escapes or removing whitespace can change literal Markdown meaning.
Added
  • fmt --preflight and check --fix --preflight validate and plan the complete
selected file batch before applying any writes, with atomic replacement per
    file after successful planning.
  • Configurable coverage policies with block diagnostics and invocation-wide
fail-fast behavior. Invalid tool definitions receive central configuration
    warnings, made fatal by --deny-config-warnings.
  • Fail-fast tool policies report an incomplete invocation (exit 2), including
when document finding failures are disabled with --fail-on never.
  • Shared full-table language recognition and flavor-aware fence coverage.
No-tools invocation errors preserve JSON's findings array and use SARIF
invocation notifications rather than assigning errors to a document.
  • --stdin-batch-targets FILE supplies a NUL-delimited file/directory inventory
for cross-file existence checks without requiring placeholder documents.
  • MD013: add reflow-break-code-spans to keep code spans whole while emphasis wraps (bd41ee8)
  • fmt: add Bun code-block formatting and reduce redundant checks (2605ead)
  • stdin: accept separate batch link target inventories (56c492b)
Fixed
  • Headings inside blockquotes and list items are checked and fixed relative to
their container. Heading spacing, indentation, capitalization, and reflow
preserve list markers and avoid rewriting literal text or template code.
  • Tables nested under multiple containers are recognized. Blank-line checks
    respect MkDocs admonition openers and Markdown-enabled HTML boundaries;
HTML markers inside comments and indented code remain literal content.
  • MD035: leave a first-line thematic break unchanged when fixing it would
turn the following content into front matter.
  • File discovery skips source-code files matched by broad include patterns,
while explicitly supplied unsupported source files still receive an error.
  • Windows path matching handles device-prefixed paths and directory separators
consistently across discovery and per-file configuration.
  • Reject invalid UTF-8 in external tool stdout instead of replacing invalid
bytes and allowing that output to become formatted document content.
  • deps: update rustls to address security advisories (7acb91a)
  • MD058: follow the parser on whether a bare marker opens a list item, and limit the list tab check to table rows (0075568)
  • MD056: confirm tables longer than the parser slice limit (3e55b6c)
  • MD058: require a blank line before a table after a bare marker that opens no item (2f259fd)
  • MD056: leave text the parser does not read as a table alone (f1cd37b)
  • MD060: confirm a MkDocs table that follows the container opener directly (d3ef855)
  • MD060: keep the indentation of tables in admonitions and content tabs (5d8b0f1)
  • MD056: keep a table in a quoted list item and after a definition from being corrupted by fixes (84be18d)
  • MD060: rewrite only tables the Markdown parser confirms (b7bd275)
  • config: find user config under ~/.config on Windows and explain discovery (77e3c42)
  • inline-config: accept directive comments without whitespace after the opener or before the closer (56f02cb)
  • MD077: end the item at a tight line that does not continue its paragraph (77b8840)
  • MD065: keep a fix from moving a rule out of its list item or turning a quoted heading into a rule (18a4458)
  • MD027: keep lazy blockquote lines indented four or more spaces from changing the parse (25e98af)
  • MD003: keep Unicode whitespace in ATX heading text (6c49f9f)

  • MD063: keep the list marker when capitalizing a heading on a marker line (54e66a2)
  • MD041: treat a heading that opens a list item as list content, not a first-line heading (b97b57a)
  • MD025: keep the list marker when demoting an extra top-level heading (292b80a)
  • MD022: do not add a blank line above a heading that opens its list item (c0676d4)

  • MD003: keep a marker-line heading in its list item when changing style (0ac54b5)
  • lint_context: record headings that begin on a list marker line (28aaf36)
  • MD069: leave thematic breaks and dependent lines alone and keep the first marker (7881cbe)
  • MD077: keep continuation content inside the list item that owns it (f6ef2ab)
  • MD031: keep a fenced block in its list item and leave unclosed fences alone (5902a03)
  • MD010: leave the text of an inline code span untouched (7009810)
  • MD009: keep whitespace that ends a line inside a multi-line code span (4859c8a)
  • cli: report a panic in one file as an error for that file instead of aborting the run (b010c43)
  • lint_context: stop a setext heading ending in an attribute block from crashing the parser (5e45599)
  • MD010: expand leading tabs to their CommonMark columns and drop trailing tabs (0c33ce5)
  • lint_context: read a marker or an ATX shape indented four columns as text (5add655)
  • MD022: keep a heading that begins a list item directly under its bare marker (cd805cf)
  • MD023: measure heading indentation from the list item's content column (5bd6f5b)
  • MD003: decline ATX to setext conversions that would change the document structure (a9b552d)
  • lint_context: treat a bare list marker as an empty list item, not setext heading text (8168f65)
  • MD013: keep #word references off the start of reflowed lines (e069f1e)
  • MD035: do not rewrite a thematic break into a setext underline (1c66de3)
