This adds an organisation page (
org/hams.com/index.md) and a PID page (1209/7373/index.md).Hams.com is an amateur radio service by Bruce Perens (K6BP), creator of the
Open Source Definition, which became the core of the Open Source Hardware
Definition.
Project: open source USB devices for amateur radio stations. One VID/PID
for a family of devices that identify themselves to the host with a
self-describing
GET_INFOrequest (protocol version and a device sub-ID),so later device types do not need further PID allocations.
First implementation: a "station I/O" device on the Cypress EZ-USB FX2LP
(CY7C68013A) with our own 8051 firmware loaded into RAM over
USB: general-purpose I/O with a function map, a hardware transmit time-out
and heartbeat for PTT lines, PTT lead and lag sequencing.
Source: https://github.com/BrucePerens/hams_open/tree/main/hardware/fx2_station_io
(public; firmware, shared core, host tool, tests;
LICENSEin thatdirectory is the AGPL-3.0 text, and every source file carries an SPDX
identifier). The protocol is documented in the repository's companion
proposal and a device-type registry will live next to the firmware.
This is firmware for a popular commercial CYC68013A development board.
We currently see it at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0855FJDBX for $10
A schematic is at
https://www.openimpulse.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/downloadables/CY7C68013A-Schematic-Diagram.pdf
A hardware design guide is at
https://www.infineon.com/assets/row/public/documents/30/42/infineon-an15456-guide-to-a-successful-ez-usb-fx2lp-hardware-design-applicationnotes-en.pdf
It is not currently necessary for anyone to manufacture the board, since
it is so inexpensive ready-made.
Licences: AGPL-3.0-or-later for firmware, host software and any
reference designs we produce in the future. We promise that every device
under this PID will remain under an OSI-approved open source licence
(software) and a recognised open source hardware licence (hardware design
files).
Checks:
python3 test/validate_pids.pypasses ("No errors found!")with these files; the PID directory is upper case, four hex digits, not in
the reserved 0xxx and 1xxx ranges, and was not allocated at the time of the
request; the organisation directory name matches the
owner:field and hasno spaces; the PID title does not repeat the organisation name.
