Why

The weekly Dependency Vulnerability Scan has been failing, and the same audit runs in publish.yml before anything is uploaded to PyPI, so a release would have stopped there. It reports 36 advisories in 6 packages: anyio, certifi and dnspython (runtime, via httpx and email-validator), and filelock, sqlparse and virtualenv (dev/optional).

What changed

  • poetry.lock regenerated with Poetry 2.4.1, the version CI uses. 10 packages move: the 6 above plus 4 that their new versions require.
  • pyproject.toml, dev group only: minimum versions for dnspython and filelock, split by Python version. Their fixed releases need Python 3.11+, so a plain update left the vulnerable builds selected for 3.11-3.14.

User impact: none

The published dependency ranges are unchanged (verified by comparing the built wheel's metadata with main's). The lockfile only affects this repo's CI and development environment.

Verification

  • Audit of what each Python version installs from the lock: Python 3.11-3.14, and the runtime-only publish audit, report no known vulnerabilities (before: 42 and 5).
  • 465 tests pass; ruff, mypy and pre-commit are clean.

Known remainder

Python 3.10 keeps the older dnspython and filelock because no fixed release supports 3.10. The audits run on 3.12. If 3.10 support is dropped later, the two pyproject.toml entries can be removed.

The weekly dependency scan, and the audit that runs before publishing to
PyPI, were failing on anyio, certifi, dnspython, filelock, sqlparse and
virtualenv. Update them with Poetry 2.4.1, the version CI uses.

The fixed releases of dnspython and filelock need Python 3.11 or newer, so
a plain update left the vulnerable builds in place for 3.11-3.14. Add
minimum versions for both to the dev group, split by Python version. That
group is not published, so the package's dependencies are unchanged.

Python 3.10 keeps the older dnspython and filelock because no fixed release
supports it; the audits run on 3.12.
