feat(model): add data product concept and registry - #1001
PR 3 of the five-PR concept-registry stack; review against stack/concept-registry/02-empty-values.
Add experimental data-product concepts: named abstractions that can be modeled
by multiple concrete data-product types. Add a registry owning those concepts.
data_product_concept
non-empty name + set of concrete types (std::type_index)
registry[name]
register new concept -> take ownership, return true
register same name -> union concrete types, return false
add concrete type -> create concept if absent
query -> name lookup, sorted names, membership, reverse lookup
Reject empty concept names and null concept registration; type insertion is
idempotent. Concept equality compares name and concrete-type membership.
Permit a concrete type to model more than one concept. Reverse lookup returns
a matching concept, not a deterministic preferred concept.
Protect registry reads/writes with shared/exclusive locks; the registry is
neither copyable nor movable.
Add model exports, forward declarations, build entries, membership/registry
tests, and the explicit <mutex> include required for portability.
Conversion records and executable translator nodes belong to subsequent PRs.
Evidence
Before: The parent has no data-product concept or owning registry API. After: Membership tests pass 16 assertions in 8 cases; registry tests pass
61 assertions in 22 cases, covering insertion, duplicate union, lookups,
rejection, sorted names, and shared-type membership.
Full configured build, including Python and FORM targets, passed.
Full boundary suite: 119/119 CTests passed, adding exactly the two model tests.
All nine changed files passed existing hooks and whitespace checks.
The before/after is the API delta, not a failing-parent test claim. Results are
local macOS/AppleClang; Linux and TSAN execution are not established. Registry
cases are sequential: overlapping-operation runtime verification is still open
as separate follow-up work.
Merge Danger
Door: Two-way
Additive experimental model APIs with no persisted-format change. Reversion
after later adoption requires removing dependent APIs and callers.
Blast Radius: Model
Locks protect operations through registry methods, not dereferences or mutations
of returned pointers after a call. Callers must coordinate those accesses.
Mutable lookup also permits assignment that changes a concept's identity without
updating its registry key; that inherited API limitation is not hardened here.
Code: Add experimental data_product_concept objects that group concrete product types under a non-empty name. Type insertion is idempotent, and equality compares the name and type set.
Code: Add a non-copyable, non-movable registry with registration, type association, lookup, sorted name listing, membership checks, and reverse lookup. Duplicate names merge their concrete types; adding a type creates a missing concept.
Concurrency: Registry methods protect reads and writes with shared or exclusive locks. Returned pointers are not protected after a method returns. Callers must coordinate pointer access with registry writes. A type associated with multiple concepts has no guaranteed preferred reverse-lookup result.
Build and tests: Add both implementation files and public headers to phlex_model, and register two Catch2 test suites. The PR reports 16 assertions across 8 concept-test cases and 61 assertions across 22 registry-test cases.
Validation: The PR reports a successful configured build, 119/119 boundary CTests, and passing hooks and whitespace checks on macOS with AppleClang. Linux and TSAN results are not established; the registry tests are sequential.

Walkthrough
The change adds data_product_concept to store named sets of concrete product type IDs. It also adds a registry for registering concepts, associating types, and looking up concepts by name or type.
Changes: Data product concepts
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Define and test concepts phlex/model/data_product_concept.*, phlex/model/fwd.hpp, phlex/model/CMakeLists.txt, test/data_product_concept_test.cpp, test/CMakeLists.txt
Adds the exported concept type and its implementation. It stores a name and concrete type IDs, supports adding and checking types, and rejects empty names. Adds build, install, and test wiring.
Register concepts and query types phlex/model/data_product_concept_registry.*, phlex/model/fwd.hpp, phlex/model/CMakeLists.txt, test/data_product_concept_registry_test.cpp, test/CMakeLists.txt
Adds a registry that merges registrations by name, associates concrete types, and supports name and type lookups. Read operations use shared locks; write operations use exclusive locks. Concept names are returned sorted. Adds registry tests and build wiring.
Resolve the registry identity inconsistency and unsafe self-insertion before merging. Add the focused equality assertion to protect membership comparisons.

Prevent concept assignment from changing a registered name.
If a caller assigns data_product_concept{"new"} through find_concept("old"), the concept reports "new" while the registry still indexes it as "old". A lookup for "new" then fails, and registering "new" can create a second concept with that name. Keep the name immutable after construction, or replace mutable lookup with registry-controlled updates.

Handle a concept’s own set before range insertion.
A caller can invoke con.add_concrete_types(con.concrete_types()). This passes iterators from concrete_types_ back to its range-insertion operation. The C++ unordered-container contract forbids source iterators from the destination container, so this call has undefined behavior. Return without inserting when types refers to concrete_types_. The equality test only compares empty concepts. It can pass if operator== ignores concrete_types_. Add a same-name concept with a different concrete-type set.
